Getting tested for HIV is so important. It’s the only way to know your status. If you don’t want to go to your local GP or sexual health clinic to get checked, you can order a confidential home testing kit online: freetesting.hiv ViiV Healthcare
As Gareth Thomas says, if a heterosexual friend of his acquired HIV they might be most worried about people assuming they were gay. HIV can affect anyone, not just homosexual men. But stigma around HIV and sexuality still exists, which is very harmful. ViiV Healthcare

The first HIV antibody test was developed in 1985. It was designed initially to screen blood products, not to diagnose HIV. HIV testing has developed enormously since then – now you can get tested for HIV and know your status within 15 minutes! ViiV Healthcare
