Bird flu has been found in pheasants reared for game shooting, adding to fears that the release of millions of game birds may be helping to spread the deadly disease. @rupertevelyn writes itv.com/news/2022-09-2…

On the equinox today summer officially gives way to autumn. I took this photo here at the Findhorn Hinterland yesterday - it seems to symbolise that transition, with the last flowers of heather from summer being alongside the ripening blackberries & leaf colour change of autumn.

After two plus years of online Working Group meetings it was a relief to get out and do something practical. "Networking" (i.e catch up blethers!) is also so much easier.

We had a brilliant time on our first #TaysidePondsProject volunteer outing. With a group of absolutely brilliant #volunteers we cleared lots of Bullrush, planted native wetland #wildflowers, cleared litter and enjoyed being outside helping nature. Big thanks to everyone 1/2

Winter wildfowl puts on a great show at our NatureScot_NE Loch Leven National Nature Reserve every December, such as these geese coming into roost at dusk. If you're lucky when you're there, you might even hear the distinctive whooping calls of the Whooper swans.

In my address to COP15 Plenary today, emphasis was placed again on fortifying the Ocean’s place in the Global Biodiversity Framework. Some 80% of the planet’s biodiversity resides in the Ocean & we must not take its well-being for granted. Like terrestrial life, it’s under threat

Just 3% of our wildflower meadows are left. Let’s give bumblebees a fighting chance by growing more wildflowers in our gardens, communities and green spaces, and not using pesticides and weedkillers 🐝

It's great to get this project up and running at last! It's only possible because of joint partnership working and thanks to Nature Restoration Funding.
