@KarenLikesRocks Michael Anenburg UNLVGeoscience Crucial question; Nedal Nasser and others USGS Minerals are working on this and I’ve done some here myself. Watch this space for Mo and Re (we’ve done indium somewhat already). TeaSe can also comment here I think. Happy to pass papers on etc...

Fuelling up ready to head to Halifax - visiting SMUGeology to give a seminar on our Cardiff School of Earth & Environmental Sciences and TeaSe work on volatiles on the Bushveld Complex, and to have a go on a micro-raman. Looking forward to setting up some new collaborations :) #postdoc #science

Excellent seminar today at Monash Earth, Atmosphere and Environment 🌏🌪️🍃 by Prof David Holwell from TeaSe, discussing the links between #gold and #tellurium from partial melting of mantle sulphides, all the way to near-surface epithermal deposits!

Getting all armoured up ready to melt rocks in a furnace at 1000°C. My inner 5 year old is loving this! 😛 Doing my favourite lab technique today - Ni-S fire assay for PGE 🔥 How do they vary between porphyry Cu deposits? 🤔 #postdoc #LabLife Cardiff School of Earth & Environmental Sciences TeaSe

And here they are, my lil pots of homemade lava 😁 hopefully the precious metals will have seperated into a sulphide nugget I can then analyse...

Here's one I made earlier! After they cool you smash it open with a hammer to get at the hopefully platinum-filled goodness within 🤞 this little nugget is ready for the wet chemistry stage of the process... Watch this space!

Day 2 #7DaysOfFieldwork - Kongsberg, Norway. A very wet, but fun trip with Joe Armstrong for TeaSe in 2017, looking at old VMS deposits, lots of pyrite, decent amounts of selenium, some tellurium, orange pools of water and sheep 🇳🇴

🔶NEW OPEN ACCESS PAPER🔶Gold in the Irish black stuff! Not Guinness... coal! Sadly not enough to retire on, so it's another week on furlough for me... Read it in Minerals MDPI here mdpi.com/2075-163X/10/7… There's even some selenium in there to keep the TeaSe lot happy
