Day two of the RHS Tender Ornamental Plant Committee study tour in #Scotland, thoroughly enjoyed the Glasgow Botanic Gdns yesterday, now off to somewhere I've dreamt of visiting for a decade or so - Logan Botanic Garden - the #exotic jewel in the North. 'Kid in a sweet shop' time! #plants #people

A rather windswept second day on the #TOPC study day to #Scotland and today we are being wonderfully hosted at Logan Botanic Garden by TOPC member and curator Richard Baines - this treasure trove of a #garden has #exotic plantings from all over the world, and is a plantpersons dream!

Day two is over for the #TOPC study tour to #Scotland, and the weather is determined to blow us away! Almost 60mph up at the Mull of Galloway - but they couldn't blow away a fabulous day at Logan Botanic Garden. Two more #gardens tomorrow - stay tuned!

Day 3 for our study-tour to #Scotland, and we're starting on a beautiful sunny day at National Trust for Scotland #Threave - the School for Heritage Gardening - Nadine and Stuart are giving us a wonderful tour of some more wonderful Scottish #horticulture!

Fantastic time at National Trust for Scotland #Threave, especially the walled #garden which was full of productive horticulture, well worth a visit if you're in the area, especially for the #cakes! Onwards to the Garden of Cosmic Speculation 🛸

The last #garden of our Study Tour in #Scotland is the The Garden of Cosmic Speculation, a landscape of #LandArt including some immense land forms and sweeping vistas. Very different from other gardens we visited that challenged many of the committee members notions of what a #garden is.

A fantastic day at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, finally got to meet Axel Dalberg Poulsen and see some of the extensive #Ginger collection there. Some interesting collections that may have some #horticultural value in the #garden. #Exotics #Scotland

As we make our way home to #Devon, a special #Scotland edition of #GingerSeason. The spectacular torch ginger - #Etlingera loerzingii - from the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh #ginger collection, another Axel Dalberg Poulsen collection. Not hardy i'm afraid!! Just imagine if it was 🤤

Some photos from RHS Garden Wisley #Glasshouse on the #TOPC visit - including the lovely blue amaryllid - #Worsleya and the shaving-brushes of #Haemanthus - some lovely #arid collections too!

After the RHS Garden Wisley #greenhouse the #TOPC visited the #Herbarium housed in the #Hilltop building, where theY miticulously stored 90,000 cultivated plant specimens (only another 350,000 to go!).

A couple of shots from our recent #TOPC study trip to #Scotland and the magical botanical #gardens at Logan Botanic Garden including some of the best #Schefflera macrophylla i've ever seen in the UK - photos courtesy of TOPC member Alice Bailey

I'm standing next to my favourite tree fern #Cyathea medularis - the Black Tree Fern - at Logan Botanic Garden on our recent RHS Tender Ornamental Plant Committee #Scotland study trip. Not easy to grow outside all year rpund, they had 4-5 cracking plants - am incredibly jealous! #TreeFern #Exotics #Garden

#TOPC chair Martin Fish took some time after his judging duties at the RHS Garden Wisley #Flower show to visit fellow committee member matt soper and his nursery full of #carnivorous delights. As ever the standard and range of #plants was amazing!

A look around the tropical borders and new island bed in the Walled Garden at Roseland Parc. RHS Tender Ornamental Plant Committee #aeonium #sonchus #exotics #gardens #palms #begonia #Cornwall #RoselandParc youtu.be/VYAMlB3N7FE?si…

In the spirit of collaboration #TOPC member Saul Walker joined the The RHS #FruitVegetableHerb Committee today to look at the wonderful produce grown at RHS Garden Rosemoor and even joined in the final #Tomato trial forum for the year. Thanks for a wonderful day!
