Over 27 years we have bought from local authors, provided workshops for writers and illustrators, advocated for local authors, to major donors and government supported children's book awards (shout-out to HOHE Literary Awards ), recognized and promoted children's classics...3/

HOHE Literary Awards OpenHeartsBigDreams ...partnered with iCog Labs (shout-out to funder Curious Learning ) to create digital interactive books in 4 Ethiopian languages, and created the first ever comprehensive bibliography of Ethiopian children's books. 5/

I have no words to describe the daily horrors we are seeing from Libya. I just translated a video from a helpless woman who said these words in Amharic. Follow the work of Refugees In Libya who are doing the work that UNHCR should be doing with zero money. 🧵







I wrote about getting to know my grandparents and Eastern Oregon cousins in my upcoming Catalyst Press book--and this week got to connect with one of those cousins and discuss family history as we can piece it together. Can't wait to read from the book in her community in July.
