The 1st Pride picnic in Toronto was held on August 1, 1971, at Hanlan’s Point. Organized by the Community Homophile Association of Toronto (CHAT) and Toronto Gay Action. The ad above, archived by The ArQuives encouraged folks to bring “footballs or whatever else turns you on.”
