Wes Streeting This is some good news for a change but the full-time equivalent number is 851 But there are 900 fewer FTE Adhoc Locums uncounted in the most recent figures But more employment is good news just 7000 more to go to reach the numbers projected as needed 2015 Thanks Wes Streeting

A vote of no confidence in the GMC, as our regulator, must be the starting point. But it should only be called when a clear plan for what comes next is in place. 1/3

1/ The GMC would have you to believe its only misstep is regulating physician associates. That's a smokescreen. The truth is that the GMC is broken - and it's breaking doctors. Time for a reckoning. 🧵 #VONCGMC #NotMyRegulator

The GMC – A short story 📖 When I first stepped into a senior role at Doctors’ Association UK, we made a conscious decision to engage more with the GMC. It felt like the right thing to do — try to build a dialogue, push for change from within.

GP unemployment & underemployment hasn’t gone away GP ARRS roles are not ideal, limited to GPs in their first 2yrs of working & are mostly replacing regular Locums so not increasing capacity Patients need GPs & GPs need jobs Wes Streeting fund GP practices to recruit & retain

GP partnerships the cornerstone 1’ care, enabling tailored local services, continuity of care, through goodwill & unpaid overtime Yet criticism & real term funding cuts of 20% undermined the future, resulting in a loss of GPs, insecurity & uncertainty bmj.com/content/389/bm…
