Little Amal will visit Wigan town centre as she nears the end of her 8,000km journey from the Turkish-Syrian border to Manchester. (1/4)

We’re working with Manchester International Festival to welcome 10-year-old Little Amal – a 3.5m tall puppet– to the town centre as part of ‘The Walk’, an artistic depiction of a refugee child in search of her mother. (2/4)

She will begin her visit at Trencherfield Mill at 3pm on 31 October and will make her way to The Edge Conference Centre via Southgate, which will take 45 minutes. There will be ots of vibrant and exciting cultural experiences on offer during the visit (3/4)

Visitors can watch an installation produced by Manchester Street Poem, an art collective of people with lived experience of homelessness, at 4pm in The Edge where they will read stories to Little Amal. More info: bit.ly/3jkolzZ Images: Manchester International Festival

⚠️ Event delayed ⚠️ ☔️ With a possibility of stormy weather, Little Amal’s arrival has been pushed back to 3.30pm. 👍 Don’t worry, she’s keeping warm and dry. 🌞 Brighter weather is forecast, we suggest aiming to arrive after 3pm for the later start time.

This weekend we found an amazing new home TheEdge and welcomed around 900 CYP and their families to celebrate dance together and to perform on a professional stage in a supportive environment. 150 of those young people attend WigLe Dance provision
