The responsibility of the Ambulance Service is to provide a service to the patient. The responsibility of leadership team is to serve their staff so that their staff may better serve those patients. If leaders fail to serve their staff first, patients & the service will suffer.

The best advice I received as a student Paramedic: If you want to be successful in your career you must first learn how to fail. Because there’s going to be a lot of failure on this journey. If you can’t learn or deal with failure. Then you will never be successful.

My biggest weakness as an Educator is learning to keep my mouth shut. Giving my students the time & space to make progress, to think, to grow. Now, every time I wanna jump in. I pause, I give them an extra 30 secs minimum. That awkward silence speaks louder than you think.

Practice Educator who responds negatively when asked questions by their students. Eventually, those students will remain quiet and hide away from asking any more. Start building that learning environment of psychological safety where asking questions is embraced & encouraged.

I’ve been reading and learning all about Leadership for a year now. Feel like a leadership nerd. I love it!!! This video from Simon Sinek just nails it on the head! This is MY Leadership philosophy 👇 Does this resonate with you?

As an Educator I have mentored many different types of students: - Shy - Confident - Big Egos - Lazy - Ambitious But I always focus on these things first. Gain influence, build trust, develop a relationship, get results, no matter who I work with. I treat them like a human.

You can’t beat starting your day. With a steady run. Around a beautiful lake. With just the sounds of water & birds. A chance to clear your head & organise your thoughts. Your best thoughts and ideas reveal themselves when your head is clear. Have a good day everybody!

When students are given more autonomy over their placements & become more connected to the purpose of what we do in the Ambulance Service. When they feel more apart of the team, they become a lot happier & engaged. The outcome of this is their performance improves dramatically.

Great job Rebecca. Students do gain so much value and feel more connected when they feel apart of the team. A simple act of sitting up front, engaging and feeling apart of the team means a lot for a student. Leading by example! #studentupfront
