The rain has stayed away and the running finals are underway at the Hoover Division I district track and field meet. I'll have highlights throughout the night.

Lake's Daniela Scheffler broke her own district meet record in the girls 1,600 with a time of 4:52.09. She ran a 4:59.37 here last year.

Jackson's 400 relay of Jackson Baker, Micah Regimbal, Kristian Satterfield and Khirye Tyler outsprinted Hoover for the final regional berth in a runoff.

A heck of a three-way battle between Hoover's Zavier Medina, Green's Eric Dando and GlenOak's Ryan Bridenthal in the boys 3,200. Medina pulls it out for a distance sweep. He also won the 1,600.

Perry's win in the 1,600 relay helps the Panthers tie GlenOak for the boys team championship. The Golden Eagles won the girls team title.

What a difference weather-wise here in Salem. Now if we can just spike the temperature up 15 degrees and keep it that way for the next 15 years, we'll be OK.

Marlington sweeps the 100. Cameron Evanich wins the boys race in a personal-best 10.98 seconds. Allie Gill captures the girls race. It is Evanich's second district title this week.

Still kind of wondering why the Northwestern Huskies were assigned to this meet — almost 80 miles away — when there is a Division II district meet in Orrville.🙄

I'll go out on a limb and say that Colin Cernansky's meet record of 4:14.98 in the boys 1,600 will not be broken today.

It's two wins on the day and three district titles overall for Marlington's Cameron Evanich. He takes the boys 400 in a personal-best 49.67. He will have a chance to go 4-for-4 when he runs the 200.

Marlington will finish second in the boys and girls meets. The Dukes had a shot to win the girls team title going into the 1,600 relay. Salem's win helped the Quakers grab the title.

Spotted the Huskies at Raising Cane's in Alliance. They were able to fuel up for their long journey home.
