Exactly right. Man is driven to find meaning. That's how you're wired. If you abandon traditional religion, you'll search for it elsewhere. Although, in most cases, your substitute will often be uncompromising and extreme.

Exactly. Speech isn't violence. Violence is violence. Jewish tradition is rooted in disagreement. But it stops there. To paraphrase the Talmud's description of rabbinic debate: "They start as enemies, but finish as friends." (Kiddushin 30B)

This was great, but you missed the Jewish connection. According to the Coltrane bio, Chasin' the Trane, Coltrane's vision for A Love Supreme came from meditations inspired by various works of Kabbalah. 🪬

The point of a weekly Sabbath isn't just to unplug, it's to internalize the idea that God runs the world. And you don't.

100%. Disagreement is woven into the fabric of Jewish life. According to the Talmud (Yevamos 14B), the schools of Hillel and Shammai had major disagreements, yet they still cooperated in myriad ways, and their children married each other.

This is such a meaningful and important point. It is our responsibility to demonstrate the relevance and value of living a Jewish life. That does not mean propagandizing the next generation, giving them pro-Israel talking points, obfuscating the Torah's message, or imploring

Deep wisdom here from William Patrick Corgan If you look outside yourself for happiness, you'll never be happy. True happiness comes from within. "Who is rich? The one who's happy with what he has." (Avos 4:1)

This is almost right. "Religion" is a Christian idea as well. Jewish identity is rooted in "Torah," a word that means, "Instructions," as in "Toras Chaim," or "Instructions for Living." A Jew belongs to the Jewish people, who define themselves by living the Torah.

So true. True peace = self control (which is why the Hebrew words for peace and complete share the same linguistic root: שלם). ➡️Emotional: real strength is self control ➡️Ego: true honor comes from honoring others ➡️Wealth: real wealth is appreciating what you already have

100%. Shabbos isn't about what you can't do, it's what you can do. You relinquish control once a week to internalize the idea that God runs the world.

Every blade of grass is overseen by a spiritual force that gives it a smack and tells it, "Grow." Why? Because the first step in growth is being uncomfortable with where you are. Shana Tova 🪬

What terrifies me is if ISIS were to detonate a nuclear device and kill 50 million Americans. Imagine the backlash against peaceful Muslims?
