Price corrections: Apologies for the $19.99 price issues in the Vancouver Sun this week. It is on me. Tormaresca Trentangeli Castel del Monte is listed at $29.99, not $19.99, and the Tenuta di Calamaia Vino Nobile Montepulciano 2019 is $42.99, not $19.99. They remain fine wines.

Should be a great game tonight in Vancouver, such a shame we have to listen to Cuthbert and Simpson. It’s a good reason to cheer for the Leafs to go deep so Shorty could call the game. #HNIC

I enjoyed a recent tasting w Ricardo Tedeschi. He’s among a small group of Amarone producers bringing a fresher perspective to the market. Expect more red fruit nuances and flavours, fresher acidity and lower alcohol. It’s a welcomed tweak to this venerable Italian category.

I'm heading to Niagara wine country for the 24th, 7-day, National Wine Awards. 22 judges from across the country and the US and UK get a snapshot of the current day Canadian wine industry. It’s always fun and very informative. Results will be out in early July. #NWAC24 #Wine

Canucks white wash the Flyer, one of the toughest teams after the whistle in the NHL at their home opener, but we can’t enjoy it for a minute. We have to go right to the New York Islander game. Sportsnet so seriously out of touch. #HNIC #sn

The 25th National Wine Awards are in BC, this June. Many wineries concentrate on entering CH, PN, Riesling, and CF, but the judges love tasting the outliers, too. If you have Fortified Wine, Icewine, Late Harvest, Cider, Mead, or Low-Alcohol Wine, there is still time to submit.
