These c. 1920s garters are made from an outer of floral printed ribbon and an interior of elastic. There are two matching pairs, and both have the unusual addition of pink silk encase ‘padding’. underpinningsmuseum.com/museum-collect…

This 1920s pannier-style hoop skirt would have originally been worn under a robe de style dress; its original shape was ovoid. It is made from a fine cotton with rows of insertion cotton lace, with the metal hoops in channels between two layers of cotton. underpinningsmuseum.com/museum-collect…

Would you believe this sheer nylon bra is from the 1940s? Nylon bras made from marquisette, taffeta, and powernet were on sale in 1941 and 1942, before being withdrawn to conserve supplies of the fibre for use in the war effort. underpinningsmuseum.com/exhibition-lif…

This very lightweight c. 1890s ‘waist’ was likely intended for sport. It was made from a single layer of flexible cotton twill, with a gentle silhouette that allows for a wider range of movement than the traditional everyday corsetry of the community. underpinningsmuseum.com/museum-collect…
