Pret is opening on Leith Walk. It promotes a takeaway / throwaway culture in an area where we have so many local, independent cafes. Surely a Pret doesn't help to build community, or a 15-minute neighbourhood. Why did the planning committee agree to it?

It's five years since we posted this, and we're still waiting to see it reflected in practice. If 'walking and wheeling' really is the priority, we must see much more investment in better pavements, pedestrian crossings, etc.

Some of the best before-and-after transformations of streets & places come from Vienna, a city that showed even when youโ€™re already one of the best cities in the world, you can constantly keep getting better by rethinking space for cars. Via former Deputy Mayor Birgit Hebein.

The idea that Nigel Farage could one day become Prime Minister makes me sick! An independent Scotland is the only solution. Otherwise, weโ€™ll be dragged into a populist, right-wing future we didnโ€™t vote for. edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/opinion/cโ€ฆ

I'm delighted to see more funding for dropped kerbs in Edinburgh...but every town in Scotland is plagued with inaccessible kerbs. Why doesn't the Scottish Government just give *all* councils a pot of ยฃยฃ to help fix them??

Big win for The Causey at Transport Committee today. Originally marked for the shelf, SNP successfully tabled that it proceed in addition to formally being considered for Visitor Levy funding. ๐ŸŽ‰

It was community led from the beginning - and they have been led up and down the garden path for over a decade. The council needs to honour its previous commitments if not to seriously erode trust in engaging with us. Letโ€™s get on with delivery.

Big day for The Causey yesterday, moved from "paused" to "proceed" in CEC's capital investment prioritisation. Couldn't have happened without the ongoing support of our Southside Newington Councillors Cllr Simita Kumar Cllr Steve Burgess, Pauline Flannery, Tim Pogson.
