Imagine going to a job or clocking in or working on a project that benefits and helps others, but doing it solely for free. Sure, some may do it, but my time is valuable. I’ve been in recruiting for ten years at this point. What I do isn’t free, but it’s also not overpriced.

Camp season is here and everyone has thoughts on what you should and shouldn’t do If a program has shown consistent interest, go to their camp If your gameplay is consistent with a certain level, go camp Stay under three hours of driving unless a team is already interested.

Camps are beneficial when done the right way. Some places just want your money, and they are easy to identify If a coach has never spoken to you but you get an invite, you most likely aren’t an option and you shouldn’t go. Don’t get pulled in by logos and clout. Be smart.

College coaches get 100’s of dm’s per day. Sometimes you may have to send multiple to get yourself at the top of the list. It shows you’re really interested. Just don’t overdo it.

College coaches have limited time and most staffs have limited resources as far as recruiting, unless they are at the D1 level. Be sure to be direct and to the point in the event that you are speaking to one via dm.

Great first week! Our guys got some good reps in and we’re continuing to build towards a great season! Thankful to the college coaches that have spoken to us about our guys as well! #GUTS

Don’t camp at D1 programs only. While they are a good resource for things such as learning from coaches at that level and competing and seeing if you can play at that level, it should not be the only level you camp at! Be sure to show love to all levels in recruiting!

Camps are important, no matter what you may hear from people that should have your best interest at heart Some HS coaches take it personally that their athletes got invited to a camp but they have not heard from a coaching staff themselves. Go camp, learn and raise your stock!

Recruits: you must be diligent in the recruiting process. Get your name out there and be seen! Post as much as you can on your Twitter account!

Mega Camps, by all outer appearances, seem like a great idea. However, if you are able to compete at the camp of specific programs, you will do better for yourself than being lost in a mega camp.

Recruits, just because you have an offer you deem as a low-level offer, does not mean you should be ashamed of it! Not everyone gets a chance to play ball after HS. Be proud of what you have accomplished!

Athletes, be sure to attend camps on the weekends as much as possible, so that you do not miss summer workouts with your HS team. Some coaches will allow it, but not every program will. Team first!

Don’t wait for coaches to reach out to you after a camp! Reach out to the coach(es) and thank them for a great camp and let them know you are interested!
