My husband is in a band, bedecent. They’re playing at Otto’s Shruken Head in NYC next week on 9/8 and their debut EP is here. If you’re in NYC, come out to hear him play. It’s not a midlife crisis, I swear.

1--Markus Lanieux was arrested in 2008 after running from a traffic stop in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. He was charged with aggravated flight from an officer, which carries a max sentence of 2 years. So how did he end up sentenced to life without parole?

I was a senior in high school and saw a notice on a NYC street lamp asking for extras for MTV's Upright Citizens Brigade. I got into a stranger's van and drove to a warehouse in NJ (kids are dumb!). But it was real. I sat on a couch with Amy Poehler and she was amazing.

Agreed! subscribe to keep great writing alive. My favorites are New York Magazine & The New York Review of Books. Also, almost every university has a lit review. This tweet by Rachel Louise Snyder has inspired me to subscribe to Rutgers’ Raritan Quarterly. And shout out to the NDQ which published my first story ever

My latest in the Iowa Law Review Online. In response to Collusive Prosecution by McJunkin and Prescott, I ask whether we need to know *why* prosecutors make deals in sex crimes cases to figure out whether they *should* do so:

Hey everyone! Check out this new piece by Thea Johnson responding to my work with J.J. Prescott in the Iowa Law Review. She has some great insights into what likely motivates so-called “fictional” plea-bargaining, even in potentially pernicious sex offense cases.
