New preprint! Super excited to share this project with Anne Collins that’s been 3 years in the making. We introduce two algorithmic architectures of how humans learn and represent hierarchically structured decision policies via abstractions and compression. osf.io/preprints/psya…
I'm still in shock, but so excited to return to University of Oxford next year with a Wellcome Early Career Award. Here is to five years of cerebellar ultrasound research with Miriam Klein-Flügge 🧠 @mkflugge.bsky.social and my other stellar collaborators! Thank you to everyone who helped me on the way. 🥳🎉🧠 x.com/WesternuWIN/st…
(1/3) Pleased to share that this paper with Anne Collins is now published in Cognition! We highlight two novel algorithmic insights on human transfer learning and compositionality in hierarchical reinforcement learning. Collins Lab UC Berkeley UCBerkeley Psychology Berkeley Neuroscience
It took a while, but this paper with Nathaniel Daw is now published in Nature Communications. Reviewers had many good comments, so lots of new stuff here, especially on the computational mechanisms of how people dissociate volatility from stochasticity: nature.com/articles/s4146…
science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… Excited to share our new paper in Science Advances ! We report a novel phenomenon in motor control: your current movement is repelled away from your previous one. Modeling suggests this repulsion reflects efficient coding in motor planning.
How does attention influence motor learning? Our new paper in J Neuro SfN Journals reveals the surprising robustness of the implicit sensorimotor system: its learning rate is unaffected by spatial attention or cognitive load. jneurosci.org/content/45/40/…
