Ach, very sad news theguardian.com/music/2025/apr…. What a voice and what a bank. Saw Pere Ubu half a dozen times over the decades, and Thomas also in 'Shockheaded Peter' in 2002. Wonderful stuff.

Tim Newburn Memorial Device Thanks Tim for the kind gesture of free tickets to see Shack at the Union Chapel, gig was great till the 2nd half , I think Mick had a few to many , but John Heads guitar was something else 👍🙏

Back in London after a period in north Wales & Cumbria. Reunited with vinyl & straight back into gigs (health just good enough). In advance of tonight’s show at Cafe Oto I’m listening to the Necks’ albums I possess. They’re lovely, but they never compare with the live show

A friend recently mentioned having seen MJ Lenderman in the States. Reminded me how much I love this album and how frustrated I was to have missed him live (in a small London venue) last year

Still going strong at 87, this belter is Charles Lloyd all the way back in 1967. Not only still producing music, but music that’s every bit as good as it ever was. Extraordinary

Continuing with the rather lovely Kassi Valazza this morning. Bought on spec yesterday and it’s not disappointing thus far. A lovely bit of Americana to accompany strong, fresh coffee. Cheers all
