Pt 2: Finally get to Kensington, Earls Court and Fulham but Wandsworth Bridge Rd closed so detour to Putney Bridge but traffic queuing all the way to Putney High St. Mission motorist misery achieved by worst traffic planning ever. #sacksadiqkhan #motoringmisery #londongridlock

Heartfelt message, Thelma. Shame we don’t have a mayor with any environmental awareness or consideration for local opinion. I guess the lure of Wimbledon tennis big business finances has easily brushed that aside #shameonsadiqkhan #moneytalks Save Wimbledon Park

Tim Peters (@timpeters517631) 's Twitter Profile Photo

A shameful act of eco-vandalism funded by Wimbledon tennis millions and approved by our woeful unfit-for-purpose mayor’s office. No justification for this Metropolitan Open Land to be lost forever under concrete, with no public access #moneytalks #sadiqkhanout #aeltcshame

Unbelievable destruction of Metropolitan Open Land so Wimbledon Tennis will have over 80 tennis courts for private use 3 weeks of the year. 8 years of construction traffic. Loss of 500 mature trees. They paved paradise and put up a parking lot. Environmental madness!

Beloved green spaces…rich history…vibrant ecology… doesn’t mean much in relation to Wimbledon Park, awaiting destruction at the hands of Wimbledon tennis AELTC #EarthDay counts for nothing in vanishing London green spaces Save Wimbledon Park

Tim Peters (@timpeters517631) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Excellent piece on Wimbledon tennis/AELTC’s plans to decimate Metropolitan Open Land, destroying wildlife habitats and hundreds of mature trees. How can the mayor of London’s office ever think this is good for local residents and the environment? Save Wimbledon Park #sacksadiqkhan

Tim Peters (@timpeters517631) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Ditto Wimbledon Park. Shameful decision by Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan decimating yet more open green space - the lungs of London, loss of trees. Dangerous precedent for all parks across the country. In the words of Joni Mitchell: They paved paradise, put up a parking lot. Sack Sadiq, now!

Tim Peters (@timpeters517631) 's Twitter Profile Photo

You might get more green space, but there won’t be any beautiful mature trees on it. And access to parts of it only at AELTC’s discretion. Total chaos at Southfields tube which can’t handle demand now let alone when new show court is built. Awful precedent to build on green space

Tim Peters (@timpeters517631) 's Twitter Profile Photo

That’s over 20,000 local residents who are against building on metropolitan open space which will have 8-10 years of turmoil and construction pollution. Only 7 of 38 courts for schools use. And how do you think AELTC will use the new show court 50 weeks of the year?

Tim Peters (@timpeters517631) 's Twitter Profile Photo

… (apart from Wimbledon Park, under threat of decimation by AELTC Wimbledon tennis, which could be a building site for 8 years and very unwelcoming if public access is denied for much of the year) Save Wimbledon Park #greennotgreed

Tim Peters (@timpeters517631) 's Twitter Profile Photo

…to approving the disgraceful plans by AELTC to decimate metropolitan open land - Wimbledon Park - for the greed of Wimbledon tennis. And charging EV owners who invested in electric but will now be forced to pay congestion charge. Sadiq is a disgrace. Get him out!
