Exactly fifty years ago production was underway on The Avengers episode Quick-Quick Slow Death. Not a favourite of mine, although it was no doubt fun for Honor Blackman to watch her husband - Maurice Kaufmann - playing a villain opposite her Avengers replacement Diana Rigg.

Oct 1966. Avengers sci-fi story From Venus With Love was in production. Philip Levene's script - working title The Light Fantastic - had been rejected in the b/w era as being too "kooky" but was considered to fit comfortably into the more comic strip approach of the colour run.

This week in 1964 my dad and Brian Clemens took a road trip to the Norfolk coast to see Pat Macnee and his new colleague Elizabeth Shepherd shooting the first ever Avengers episode made on film. Locations included Holkham Nature Reserve, as 35mm freed the crew from the studio.
