This week I joined union leaders in handing in a letter to Keir Starmer calling on him to back the Climate and Nature Bill #CANBill which would protect & safeguard nature while creating 1000s of jobs. This bill is a win-win-win - time to make it happen.

Many of us woke again this morning with another threat to global peace and security. The only nuclear armed nation in the Middle East targeted multiple sites across Iran, killing multiple military personnel as well as civilians. Israel must immediately stop its hostilities

After govt's 11th hour 59th minute climbdown over PIP it's time for Reeves to go back to the drawing board and look for fairer and more sensible ways to raise money - like a wealth tax on multi-millionaires and billionaires to raise up to £24bn a year

Today women MPs wore Suffragette sashes to celebrate Votes for Women–won by civil disobedience & celebrated in Parliament's gift shop. And yet now the government is asking us to vote to proscribe Palestine Action–a modern civil disobedience group–as terrorists

I voted against the proscription of Palestine Action today. In similar cases, juries found activists not guilty based on a belief that activists were acting from a desire to prevent war crimes. The Government must draw the same proportionate line.

Ellie Chowns (@elliechowns) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Govt’s decision to proscribe Palestine Action dangerously conflates direct action with terrorism, risking a chilling effect on free speech and protest. It also cynically lumps them in with two genuine extremist groups, and shamefully denied MPs a proper vote on each organisation.

I live in a country that gives military support to another country which is killing thousands of civilians while proscribing an organisation which protests about it.

Hi Keir Starmer just dropped off some reading material for you. Despite what you keep claiming our manifesto is fully costed and it shows how we can invest in schools & hospitals, climate action and support for the most vulnerable.

Ellie Chowns (@elliechowns) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Genuinely chilling to see footage of egregious police overreach in the face of political protest in Canterbury. Simply holding a Palestine flag and calling out genocide does not equal support for a proscribed organisation. This is a crackdown on the right to protest.
