Shocked that so many of my 1st year students believe that a research project is about finding evidence that supports your thesis instead of just seeing what the evidence is on your topic. Have we all been trained by X to think that science is about winning arguments?

Vitally important: Canada's relative productivity slowdown is entirely caused by oil dependence. Failure to diversify the economy from fossil fuels will amplify this decline in the future. We must stop drilling and start innovating. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…

The big beneficiaries of taxpayers paying the $1B penalty for this are CircleK and 7/11. This article doesn't mention that Ford went to see 7/11 at Texas HQ in 2021, or that Stephen Harper recently joined the board of CircleK, or that CircleK just made an offer to buy 7/11.

For those who oppose carbon taxes and other measures to move Canada toward the new economy. China's share of global solar production 2008: 5%. In 2024: 91%. Canada has failed to diversify away from oil and gas, and now faces a grim future of low growth and low productivity.
