Last night, Holme Valley MRT were called by Yorkshire Ambulance to find and treat a teenage boy who had fallen from his bike, and could not be located. Using Phone Find tech, we located him near Butterly Res. above #Marsden. The casualty was treated for limb injuries, and given pain meds.

DOG FIND. Operational callout 80 for our volunteer handlers in 2023. Search Dog Wren of Buxton Mountain Rescue Team found an elderly gentleman who got lost on open moorland and drifted into a deep gully before running out of energy and calling for help. 1/2

Holme Valley MRT Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England Willow and Neve were guests at Donaldson's Vets Birchencliffe along with other SAR dogs, Ace, Abbie and Izzy, from Woodhead MRT. We are lucky to have John Wood with Search Dog Willow, and Emily Thompson with trainee Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England Névé here at Holme Valley MRT, our first search dogs in a few decades. Here’s to all our K9 colleagues!

It’s not only Holme Valley MRT humans who have been training in the #Cairngorm National Park Cairngorms National Park. Emily Thompson with Trainee Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England Névé have been working in the snow too! 🧵

Névé has been out with other stage 2 dogs to build his searching skills to clear large areas and find bodies. This has included working in coniferous woodlands, open mountain sides and learning some avalanche search skills - thanks to our amazing “dog’s bodies” who hid from us.

Also in Cairngorms National Park is John Wood and Search Dog Willow finding dog’s bodies in the snow (and rain). Whilst the Scottish Highland weather is different from here in Yorkshire, Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England can be deployed anywhere in the UK, when they are needed. Excellent work!
