To a few generations of baseball loving boys in Ripley, Joel Gafford hung the moon. The next generation, kids just about to enter junior high or a little younger, they had “play for Gafford” on their bucket list. Joel Gafford is the winningest baseball coach in Tippah County

Most people who only knew Gafford as the no-nonsense coach would probably be shocked to how funny he was. Like this text exchange he sent me when I told him he had become the all time winningest coach in Tippah baseball history.

Pine Grove hires Ben Wallis as Head Baseball Coach. Wallis is a former all state player from Ripley who spent six seasons as head coach at Walnut and the last 4 years at Ingomar. He started his coaching career as an assistant at Ripley. He played college ball at NEMCC and Blue

Ripley hires Nik Wilcher as new head baseball coach. Wilcher has been a Tiger assistant baseball coach and state champion golf coach the last few years. Wilcher was a standout player at Kossuth, NEMCC and Blue Mountain Christian baseball
