Sunset visit to the Tagus ricefields to admire the Black-tailed Godwit roost site. Aside from the >30.000 godwits, we stumbled upon a roost of around 700 Spoonbills after sunset.🤯

Rumex, tagged in 2022 at Schiermonnikoog (NL), decided to winter in the Tagus Estuary. As he spends most of his time at the intertidal around Sitio das Hortas, also my go-to birding spot, I've encountered him on multiple occasions over the past few weeks. #Ornithology

Incredible ringing session in the Tagus ricefields this wkd. Ca. 100 birds caught, almost 30 GPS deployed (mostly bt-godwits & 1 on lapwing), 50+ cr combos & 2 recaptures (NL & DE). Great collaborative work w FR & NL colleagues. #biodiversity #conservation #wetlands #ornithology
