On the movie tariff idiocy: it would destroy theaters. Why? Either fewer or more expensive to make, increasing what distributors would need to get from them. If enacted, just for theatrically released? Or for streaming/VOD, likely workarounds w/ foreign source to skip theaters?

Just hearing that Marcel Ophuls, director of the magnificent The Sorrow and the Pity, Hotel Terminus, The Memory of Justice & other great documentaries, adjacent to the French New Wave earlier (Banana Peel, a comedy), son of the transcendent Max Ophuels, died yesterday, 97.
