I'm experimenting with Substack. I can't help feeling that blogs like mine may have had their day. But if my Substack is to succeed, I need to know what you want to see there. So I'm asking. Talk to me. Please! substack.com/home/post/p-17…

After this hot, dry August, many gardens are looking distinctly past their best, but Rosie Amber 📚 🌷's seems to be the gift that goes on giving. #MondayBlogs

On my blog this week: Napoleon on Elba. A summary of how Napoleon went from ruling most of Europe to governing a small island in the Mediterranean. tomwilliamsauthor.co.uk/napoleon-on-el… #MondayBlogs

On my blog this week is a very old piece I wrote about Napoleon's exile on Elba. I've posted on Substack to show what I can offer in the way of historical stuff. Blogs seem to be dying so I'm trying out Substack. Give it a go. It's free. substack.com/home/post/p-17… #MondayBlogs

I was in the breakfast room at Marble Hill today. The table is laid for tea. Tea was quite a thing in the mid-18th century. Marble Hill House will be open on Bank Holiday Monday and is, as ever, free.

It's a funny time of year. Some things are flowering for a second time while my geraniums (having done nothing all summer) have finally bloomed. Here's what's happening in Rosie's garden. #MondayBlogs

Four things greater than all things are,— Women and Horses and Power and War. - Kipling Came across this for the first time yesterday. Surprised not to see Tansy Kelly Robson ✍🏼🎬⚔️🐱🏦 quoting it on a regular basis.

Readership of my blog (and, I suspect, all blogs) is fading away, while Substack seems flourishing. So no blog post this week, but on Substack, there's Napoleon’s escape from Elba, a note on Georgian furniture, and some fun stuff. Have a look. tomcw99.substack.com/p/the-escape-f… #MondayBlogs

The Georgians did like being rude in verse. (I think they were quite rude in prose too.) There's a very funny example in this week's 'All things Georgian'. georgianera.wordpress.com/2025/09/01/gue… #MondayBlogs

I have a couple of Henry Cecil's books on my bookshelf. I haven't read them for ages, but they're still there for a reason. #MondayBlogs
