Crews are on the ground and field season is in full swing in Wolf Creek! Access to the basin is still challenging due to snow, but that didn't stop @ali_fristensky from starting her sample collection at the outlet of Coal Lake (Photo from June 5th - Spring is here!)

Thank you to the folks from Yukon Parks and YESAB for attending the "tour" of our most instrumented site (Slavin) last week! Great discussions on the research being conducted at TWO. We always appreciate curious visitors (except bears) and their stories about the land!

We had a blast talking about the impacts of climate change on the water cycle in the north, and some of our ongoing research in TWO at the water weekend event in Tombstone Park. A special thank you to the YG water resources branch for organizing this event!

Yukon veg paper alert! And some self serving retweets with a bit more empirical evidence from a tiny bit of southern Yukon Wolf Creek Research Basin to address major finding 1.🙂 iopscience.iop.org/article/10.108… and hydrological implications😲 sciencedirect.com/science/articl… Sean Leipe Erin Nicholls

1/ Was an amazing Wolf Creek Research Basin 30th anniversary event yesterday. Lots of community engagement and thanks to Department of Environment Minister Nils Clarke for speaking and selecting his favourite @IvanovGennadiy4 painting for his office.

1/2 Congratulations Weigang (Victor) Tang on a wonderful PhD defence today. I've learned so much from you over the years. Your kindness and willingness to help others will never be forgotten, and the contributions to the Group cannot be adequately quantified.

Please share. To highlight #permafrost at the upcoming #COP27, I want to know what questions you have about permafrost thaw, including its role in the climate system. Ask away and I'll do my best to answer. Panorama of land subsidence caused by thaw in Canada:

Fieldwork begins at Tombstone Waters Observatory and always the need to assess winter damage, etc. The Dempster highway is a bit ‘scruffy’ to be kind - along with some of our instruments as always. Lots to figure out water wise way up here.

Northern vegetation is rapidly changing and we know little about the hydrological impacts. Check out Erin Nicholls work on how different species partition water and some future consequences. #OpenAccess onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…

Thanks to Fabrice Calmels and the Permafrost & Geoscience Research Team YukonU Research for the ERT survey at one of our Tombstone Waters Observatory sites. Will find out if @AndrasSzeitz ideas 'light up' beneath the stream.

Check out Arsh's @ak__grewal new #OpenAccess paper in Hydrological Processes that finally looks in the 'black box' that was Wolf Creek Wolf Creek Research Basin for many years. Flows, isotopes and solutes showed unexpected results. Lots of type 2 fun fieldwork here! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/hy…
