F1 was so close too. They even created a new role "to be in charge of expanding F1 content production and creating new relationships and partnerships with creators". That second part of the job was almost immediately dropped - massive missed opportunity IMO

Indeed. I’m also so surprised to hear from a handful of the ‘old F1 guard’ pundits the narrative of: heroes putting it all on the line and risking it all. That’s what the best athletes in the world do. Are we still really doing this? I’m puzzled
