Today the Legal Aid Forum Rwanda received a delegation from the NCHR RWANDA lead by Hon. Commissioner GAHONGAYIRE Aurelie. Discussions centered around provision of legal aid to juveniles and other vulnerable groups and progress made by the commission in implementing #NPM.

Earlier today, we were delighted to receive a delegation from USAID. Our discussions revolved around LAF’s contribution towards enhancing Rule of Law and Access to Justice in Rwanda, particularly through USAID Rwanda “Dufatanye Kubaka Ubutabera” Activity.

This afternoon, we had the pleasure of engaging with @ToMalaika, CEO of Footprint to Freedom, a survivor-led initiative fighting human trafficking. We discussed the Legal Aid Forum’s work and strategies to fight human trafficking as well as exploring potential areas for collaboration

This week, our Programs Manager is participating in the 2024 UN Summit Of The Future, taking place in New York. Kicking off with Action Days, discussions are focused on how youth participation and engagement in decision-making are central to achieving SDGs & #OurCommonAgenda.

We are honored to receive this recognition from Judiciary of Rwanda and remain committed to working together to advance Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in Rwanda.

📢 This afternoon, our Director of Programs, Toni, delivered remarks in TAPNetwork2030’s webinar on the relevance of gender equality to access to justice and women’s participation in the justice sector.

She emphasized that a strong legal framework is the foundation of gender equality in access to justice & underscored the importance of conducting legal audits on existing frameworks to identify gaps & advocate for necessary reforms.

She also highlighted the need for greater female representation in justice institutions. “Women’s meaningful participation—from grassroots legal aid to decision-making roles—ensures that justice is not just a principle, but a lived reality for all.”
