Inpt Day 6: Pathophysiology of refeeding syndrome: Starvation depletes phosphate stores➡️ nutrition restarted➡️glucose causes insulin release➡️cellular uptake of phos➡️decreased serum phos. Also, insulin➡️increased depletion of phos by increased cellular ATP production.

Love the graphic and video combo Sam Ghali, M.D. This is one of the reasons I ❤️ to use ETCO2 continuously throughout a cardiac arrest, whether it be with face mask, LMA or ETT. If there is no jump in ETCO2 to suggest ROSC then there is rarely a need to pause for a pulse check!
