The Town of West Hartford will hold the first of two public information meetings on its new Speed Management project on July 30, 6-8 p.m., in the Town Hall Auditorium.

Speed Reduction Markings are transverse road markings that create the illusion of increasing speed to encourage drivers to slow down. They are often used before sharp curves, pedestrian crossings, or other areas where drivers need to decelerate.

West Hartford Social Services is offering a six-week support group to help seniors combat loneliness and build connections. The group offers practical solutions for struggling with loneliness and actionable strategies to improve social connections and emotional well-being.

The West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District will be there providing wellness screenings, info/resources, and giveaways on Saturday, August 9th at the West Hartford Farmers Market from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in the Town Hall parking.

Speed Matters! Protect Vulnerable Roadway Users by slowing down. Vulnerable Roadway Users includes pedestrians and cyclists, motorcyclists, micromobility users and skateboarders.

Traffic Signal Backplates help improve visibility on the road and keeps drivers attentive. They will be installed on all town signals through the end of 2025. Retroreflective backplates are a FHWA Proven Safety Countermeasure and have been found to reduce crashes.

Proper lighting in areas of pedestrian crossings have been found to reduce nighttime pedestrian crashes by up to 42%. Recently, improvements were made at Albany Ave near Mohegan Drive, Farmington Avenue between Trout Brook Drive and Whiting Lane and Oakwood Avenue.
