I will vote for a gubernatorial candidate who supports funding transit and wonโ€™t throw riders under the bus. The incumbent governor says that he wonโ€™t look for funding to avert RIPTA cuts.

At the RIPTA service cut hearing in South Kingstown. The room is packed, it's no surprise why: South County, and Narragansett especially, is losing almost ALL OF ITS BUS SERVICE. A number of folks are wearing signs saying "I NEED TO GET HOME" Governor Dan McKee is stranding them.

Helena Buonanno Foulkes Governor Dan McKee Fil Eden of NEA-RI is speaking on how wildly damaging this will be to the educational community - the tens of thousands of teachers & students at URI and CCRI. "We ask to find solutions and maintain these routes for the students and the staff who keep these institutions running."

Helena Buonanno Foulkes Governor Dan McKee Next is a URI professor who rides the bus with his colleagues and his 3-yr-old son. One of his students told him how they will have to change their housing before classes start (in just 5 weeks!!) bc of the potential bus cuts. Their housing AND transportation is threatened.

Keep raising your voice and direct your outrage at Governor Dan McKee. He has the power to stop these devastating RIPTA cuts but heโ€™s choosing not to. Call his office and demand immediate funding action โš ๏ธ๐Ÿšจ 401-222-2080 SaveRIPTA ๐ŸšŒ RI Transit Riders

One thing many folks emphasized at todayโ€™s RIPTA service changes public hearing: RIPTA needs just $10M to close its budget gap, thatโ€™s ONLY 1% of funding that was allocated to RIDOTNews for freeway expansions & roadwork. And yet, riders are the ones being left stranded. ๐Ÿซจ๐ŸšŒ

A few of the 100+ riders who have come out to speak up and speak out against the devastating service cuts due to the defunding of RIPTA. โŒ๐ŸšŒ Governor Dan McKee are you listening?

Director Alviti has a responsibility to EVERYONE who travels in Rhode Island, not only drivers. As RIPTA's Board Chair, he is currently presiding over the agency as they face the LARGEST CUTS IN HISTORY. He is failing bus riders.

You know what attracts modern economic development? Modern transit systems connecting to plentiful housing. If McKee and DOT's Alviti don't find a solution to walk back their crippling of RIPTA, a challenger should take their jobs.

What if RI voters and the people we've put in office the last 20+ years thought proactively about investing in a modern human ecosystem (transit, housing, education, health), instead of dull reactive one-off non-strategy to economic development?
