Though I can't recall ever seeing this done at the district court level—certainly in a criminal case—it's consistent with my sense that Judge Cannon aspires to be an appellate judge, either on the 11th Circuit or, um, higher.

What a moving tribute to these US Normandy veterans. They freed the brave French people from the misery of German occupation. More than 4000 allied troops were killed in action that first day. U.S. Brits. Canadians. French. The longest day.

So moving to be in Normandy on the 80th anniversary of D-Day, and to speak again with Jake Larson - 101 years old and still going strong. He reminds us of the sacrifices the greatest generation made, and that democracy must be fought for.

We are forever indebted to our World War II veterans—and especially now, as we mark 80 years since D-Day and the start of the Allied liberation of France from Nazi occupation.   Our World War II veterans saved the free world. We must merely defend it.

Eighty years ago today, thousands of brave Americans fought to protect democracy on the shores of Normandy. This November, all we have to do is vote.
