If thousands of football bigwigs can skip quarantine for the final whilst Ministers keep the Green list pathetically small, then millions of people are going to rightly feel extremely angry. The rules have to be applied fairly. One rule for them and another for the rest of us.

The announcement from the PM was the right one. The reality for the wedding industry is that this will be the first time we have traded properly in two years. We have had no targeted support at all in that time. What an incredibly resilient, brave and supportive community we are.

News outlets and journalists should cover the good news with the same vigour as the bad. People have had a terrible time. When there is good news, we should talk about it.

The staggering number of excess deaths in the home, the vast majority of which did not relate to COVID, and the silence surrounding it is a scandal. The reasons will be complex, but we need to be talking about it.
