The Bill passes with big changes. We applaud the power of disabled people, MPs, and community organisations like Trussell food banks who’ve stood up for future of disabled people. They’ve achieved major improvements incl incl. last minute scrapping of 4 point rule. 1/3

Tonight’s huge climbdown is testament to the countless disabled people who have tirelessly fought these cuts. Yes, UC was a loss and there’s more to do, but let’s not underplay this: a government with a vast majority has been forced to u-turn. Because of the disabled community.

The government is still making devastating cuts to Universal Credit (UC)✂️ UC is a lifeline for disabled people who face huge extra costs but aren't able to work. 📢 The government must withdraw the bill. And co-produce all disability benefit reforms with disabled people.

We applaud the power of disabled people, food banks and MPs, like Dr Marie Tidball, who have tirelessly used their voices to stand up for disabled people. 💚 Ahead of the final vote next week, we're encouraging MPs to ensure disabled people are protected from severe hardship.

Despite pausing plans to cut PIP, the government is continuing with devastating cuts to Universal Credit ✂️ This will still plunge many more disabled people into poverty. We urge the government to withdraw the bill. And co-produce reforms with disabled people.

Around 50,000 people will be pushed into poverty by the Government's cuts to Universal Credit for sick and disabled people. Following publication of the Green Paper Joseph Rowntree Foundation highlighted the sleight of hand in the poverty impact analysis. The same applies to the latest version ⬇️

Disabled people are already THREE times more likely to need to use food banks. MPs must vote NO to cuts to disabled people’s social security tomorrow.
