Hey fellow venom ECRs, At the last IST conference in Singapore, a major topic was the need to establish a better networking platform form the next generation of toxinologist. As such (with some delay) I have set up a dedicated X community for us, where we can exchange on all

🐍⚠️Bitten by a snake?⚠️🐍 We are still looking for new bites of various snakes, like the #Hognose and others. Even if you had no symptoms, it would help us to get a better overview about snakebite envenomation! Please share the survey (🇬🇧🇪🇸🇩🇪)

Hey all - slowly but steadily, this community is growing, which is great! However, I think that there are plenty of toxinology young scientists that are not yet here. It would be great, if you could spread this network in your bubble so that we can have as many of us here as

Newest lab paper out in npj Biodiversity spearheaded by my stellar PhD student Josephine Dresler looking into the neglected realm of 🕷️ #venom #enzymes. When you look into 🕷️📖, you will read that their venoms are mostly composed by neurotoxins and that enzymatic compounds are rare.

This study reveals a hidden diversity of spider #venom enzymes, often overlooked compared to neurotoxins. There is a big gap between venom enzyme data in public databases & research. 1/4 #Biodiversity npj Journals Nature Portfolio nature.com/articles/s4418…
