Took the drone out Friday, I know I post way too many views and not enough agronomic pictures but it’s hard not to smile when things look like this at the end of August. Crew has killed it this year!

Chris and I ran more calls than I can count together. Chris was one of the best firemen I’ve ever met, and a all around good man. He will be missed by us all. The fire service is a better place because of him. RIP Brother, we’ll take it from here

Turf interns, don’t get caught up in finding country clubs or places with big names. Find a good superintendent that’s going to spend time with you and give you a well rounded experience. Don’t be afraid to ask questions before you take an internship!

Nice to check off quicksands and putting course aerification early on. Warmer soils will help with germination in perennially thin areas, and let’s us focus on the big course once we close. Crew knocked it out of the park. Starting to look like fall!

Short game area aerification complete, seed popping in holes on QS/Putting Course, and our last wetting agent/fert app for the season went down. 90° today but forecast shows dwindling temps later this week.. Onward

Fun day just above the golf course yesterday. Washington State DNR Wildfire helos dipped out of our irrigation pond to hold the west flank. Later moved east to hold around structures. Fire is well into the thousands of acres. Fire season isn’t over til it’s over!

Last week I began my role as Superintendent at Greenwood Country Club located in upstate South Carolina. GCC is a fixer upper, nearing its centennial as a club. Both ownership and membership have been extremely welcoming as I learn how to manage this property.

Warm temps have allowed for some recovery from a severe mini-ring outbreak. Week 1 has been full of the crew and I learning how to work together, meeting vendors and making plans for things to come.

Mini-ring recovery continues. In the absence of a superintendent these greens went 60 days without fertilizer or fungicide, underwent 12 days of no irrigation post Helene. Not the best time of year for ultra dwarf recovery, but this has me feeling marginally better about winter.

Long overdue for a post. Hired a couple new staff, and continuing to work on training and detail work. The last handful of nights have been below freezing, with our lowest temp at 24°. Temperature rollercoaster continues this week, with Tues and thurs set to hit 22°.. onward!

Had the pleasure of helping the Greenwood 50 Schools FFA chapter in prep for their Turfgrass CDE. Love seeing young people interested in our industry and helping answer their questions.

Our team was honored to assist the PAGCS1925 with creating a recruiting video for the chapter, helping to attract the next generation of industry professionals. Thanks to everyone involved in making this happen. #MoreThanAJob #CareerOpportunities

Got to show my favorite people around the office today. Not sure Cas knows dozers/diggers aren’t actual golf course equipment. A cold, but gorgeous week ahead!

First pieces of turf hitting the ground this week! Things are starting to gain momentum as we ride the weather rollercoaster. One things for sure, this place is gonna be a thrill ride to play.

Been too busy to mess with X very much lately, lots happening on and off course. Here’s to more frequent posts! Almost over the half way point with grassing. Tis a season of growth, personally, professionally, and as a team. Better every day!
