Jersey City suffers from terrible road design on Rt. 139 and 440 as much as it does from the Turnpike Extension. Unfortunately, NJ DOT doesn’t really seem to care about Jersey City all that much except as an inconvenient place that car commuters on their way to NYC pass through.

In Jersey City, we build at levels of density only seen in New York City, yet New Jersey refuses to invest in new subway, light rail, or bus rapid transit routes. The state instead plans to double the size of a highway through the city for $11B. “Highway-oriented-destruction”

Unfortunately Trenton continues to neglect NJ TRANSIT HBLR expansion to Bergen County. And that leads to more car congestion in Hoboken and Jersey City.

The summer may be over, but the hell continues.

And Governor Phil Murphy's widening of the I-78 Turnpike Extension is predicted to only save drivers 3 minutes and cost $10.7 billion. Horrible to see this continue.

Really doesn't feel like a train every 20 minutes is sufficient for the PATH line between Newark and WTC, even on a Sunday.

What's old is new again. In 1999, resident Louis Massano eloquently writes why the *other* boondoggle Turnpike expansion through Jersey City was a horrible idea. The proposed expansion was ultimately unsuccessful due to local opposition.
