A lovely donation by a member of the public of three clay tobacco pipes, probably 19th century. Lovely raised relief including a rose, shamrock and grapes. Plus a book on Clay Tobacco pipes. Thanks!

Another recent donation is this charming child’s shoe. It was posted through the museum door with the information that it had been found ‘when developing the site at Crane Mews in 2008’. If any of our audience has any further information on these buildings please contact us. 👍

We seek #volunteers who love talking to visitors to work as little as 2 hours per month. We are a lovely little museum housed within a 300 year old Georgian building. We really need volunteers to keep the museum open. Email [email protected] if interested.

Here is a basalt intaglio of actor #DavidGarrick looking side profile into the face of his hero, #WilliamShakespeare. The #intaglio was produced by #Wedgwood & Bentley and was sold out their rooms at number 12 and 13 in Greek Street, Soho, London in 1777.

A reminder that we have our JMW Turner & West London display on at present. Turner lived locally at Brentford, Isleworth & Hammersmith. Between 1813 & 1826 he and ‘old dad’ lived at Sandycombe Lodge which Turner designed with the help of the architect, Sir John Soane.

When I do school assemblies about the Twickenham Museum the kids love it when I bring along a horn that once belonged to a woolly rhinoceros from the ice age! If you would like me to come to your school and do an assembly on the Twickenham Museum, please let me know!
