January 8th 2006. Tyrone defeat Down 2-12 to 0-11 at Healy Park in the McKenna Cup. Owen Mulligan & debutant Aidan McCarron top scored with 0-4 & 1-1 respectively. Others to make their senior debuts were Adrian Ball 0-1, Raymond Mulgrew 0-1, Colm Donnelly 0-2 & Tommy McGuigan

Stephen 'Benny' McGettigan RIP. A member of the Tyrone Senior squad in 2000, Benny played in all 3 McKenna Cup fixtures that season against Monaghan QF, Derry SF and Cavan in the Final, in which he found the net.

Led Tyrone to an Ulster title in 1956 as captain & again in 1973 as manager. At one time the man with the record number of Tyrone appearances on 107. Played from 1954-69, managed the side 103 times over 2 stints from 1968-75 (Including 8 as player manager) & again from 1977-80.

Larry Strain RIP. A great Tyrone man and supporter who represented the county at every level. He made his senior debut in 1960 v Antrim in NFL/Dr Lagan Cup and made 10 appearances before moving to the USA. He eventually returned and ran a successful bar in Bridge Street Omagh.
