George R. Stewart, @Cal MA 1920 & Prof. of English 1923-1980, was born May 31, 1895. If you're looking for a post-apocalyptic novel set in Berkeley after most of humanity is wiped out by plague, try "Earth Abides," Stewart's 1949 novel that inspired Stephen King's "The Stand."
