On 27 Nov Ambassador Maruyama welcomed Dr Steffen Rimner, Assistant Professor, History of International Affairs, School of History, University College Dublin, and Director of the UCD Centre for Asia-Pacific Research, to Japan House. They discussed academic cooperation between Japan and Ireland.


On 4 March, Ambassador Shimada presented his Letter of Credence to President of Ireland , Michael D. Higgins at Áras an Uachtaráin. Mr Patrick O’Donovan TD, Minister for Arts, Media, Communications, Culture and Sport, also attended the ceremony.
