Today, we honor the bravery and sacrifice of our Servicemembers and Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day, 81 years ago. Their courage on June 6, 1944, helped liberate Europe and continues to inspire generations.

Our firefighters acted fast after a boat burst into flames near Hart Island, rescuing passengers from the water and putting out the fire. 23 people were injured, and the boat’s operator was arrested for suspected DWI. A strong response that saved lives.

Today marks 2 years since the passing of FF Mark Batista of Engine 226. A hero to the end, Mark saved his daughter’s life before losing his own. A devoted father, friend & firefighter, his absence is still deeply felt. Rest in peace, brother. You are never forgotten.

Today marks 24 years since the tragic Father’s Day Fire. On June 17, 2001, Firefighters Harry Ford, Brian Fahey, and John Downing made the Supreme Sacrifice when an explosion caused a building collapse in Queens. We remember their bravery and honor their legacy. Never Forget.
