I really look forward to our monthly #JOHNsond tri-lab meetings at FLORIDA when our lab in Agronomy at UF gets to join the labs of Grace John in UF Department of Biology and @danbigtreeman in UF School Forest, Fisheries, & Geomatics Sciences. Great times had today discussing pressing questions in ecology and how to address them!

For the first time in my career, I went to sea as Chief Scientist. We were aboard the FIO R/V Hogarth with a wonderful crew, sampling the Gulf of Mexico. Thanks to Florida Institute of Oceanography (FIO) for the amazing training opportunity for UF Department of Biology students! And thanks to Bradley Tolar (he/him) for joining us!

I volunteered at Alachua Schools Littlewood Elementary over the past month to teach students about sea turtles once a week. We touched 3D printed skulls, identified species with a dichotomous key, talked about life span, and evaluated threats to sea turtles.

Congratulations to my eminent friend and colleague, Dr. Bob Holt, on his election to the National Academy of Sciences! UF Department of Biology UF College of Liberal Arts and Sciences FLORIDA

Florida worm lizards are actually an extremely ancient lineage of burrowing legless reptile. They're sometimes called thunderworms because they can get flooded out of their burrows during our big Florida thunderstorms. 👉 Florida's reptiles and amphibians: floridamuseum.ufl.edu/discover-herps/
