Today, we celebrate Juneteenth. On this day in 1865, the Union Army arrived in Texas & freed its enslaved people, 2.5 years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth is a holiday that celebrates African American freedom & legacy, while encouraging respect for all cultures.
