Perseverance has its limits. Today I am resigning from the National Science Board and the Library of Congress Scholars Council. I wrote about my decision in TIME. time.com/7285045/resign…

This is the thing with pinker, not only does he confuse Apache with Shawnee, he disingenuously critiques Whorf for not talking to Apaches and then he ignores actual scholarship on Apache construals of place, it's all just a smug and lazy hit piece, no scholarship needed

There is so much lying and a total lack of understanding of biological research, university admission and hiring practices/policies, and democracy, in this statement. It is all intentional-the goal is to evoke hate, fear, and a vile pattern of anti-knowledge. Resist it.

"Behind the abstract talk of liberties and freedoms in much of 21st century neoliberal and libertarian discourse lies a much grubbier story of hunting and gathering...and adamantine differences. Only by understanding this can we understand the mystique of evolutionary psychology"

You can get a sense about the current vitriol aimed at Gould, the need to dismiss him and continue to promote garbage like the bell curve and why it's still so important sell IQ and racist pseudoscience. While the book doesn't mention pinker, you can see how he's helped with that

I mean he's long been a promoter of racist pseudoscience, so this isn't really a surprise Harvard author Steven Pinker appears on podcast linked to scientific racism theguardian.com/science/2025/j…

"Not only do evolutionary psychologists pick & chose the details that fit with their preconceptions--and often misread these details at that--but they also simply ignore the complex cultural whole from which these details were selected as well as the larger anthro literature"

Remember when Harvard tried to convince people they were the defenders of academic freedom against Trump's repression? “If universities are not willing to stand up for what is core to their mission, I don’t know what they’re doing. What’s the point?” theguardian.com/education/2025…
