Lords Paddick's amendment to the Employment Rights Bill is vital to ensure victims of labour exploitation and modern slavery are protected by the new Fair Work Agency. It is also critical that the new Agency should be independent and able to act without fear or favour. #fairwork

gov.uk/government/pub… Today, my first annual report as commissioner was laid before Parliament. It reflects important work done over the last year in delivering the strategic plan - but there is still much more to do to tackle modern slavery in all its forms. #Modernslavery

publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm5901/cmse… Govt's response to Business and Trade Committee report on #EmploymentRightsBill is deeply disappointing. Voluntary business action on human rights in supply chains was bold a decade ago – now it's outdated. Our international partners mandate due diligence. So must the UK.

Met with @StopTheTraffik to discuss emerging modern slavery threats. Perpetrators are constantly exploiting people in new ways from forced surrogacy and organ harvesting to social media-driven trafficking. We must evolve in response and act faster and smarter to protect victims.

Pleased to meet the Canadian High Commissioner to discuss tackling forced labour and what we can learn from international partners on effective measures to encourage transparency and address exploitation in our supply chains.

youtube.com/watch?v=RIJSWf… I was interviewed by TRT World's Beyond Borders for a documentary on human trafficking between Romania and the UK. This horrific abuse - especially the sexual exploitation of young women - is happening in our communities in the UK and must be stopped.

feeds.bbci.co.uk/news/articles/… Girls who've been groomed and exploited faced horrific abuse—yet too often, they feel unheard, disbelieved, and let down. This is modern slavery. It's unacceptable. Not enough is being done to stop it or bring perpetrators to justice. The Govt must act.

On International Day of Innocent Child Victims of Aggression, we remember children in the UK who’ve been exploited. Children are among the most vulnerable in our society—groomed, abused, and too often ignored. They deserve protection, justice, and to be heard. #ModernSlavery

🔗 independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-n… Seasonal workers are being trapped in debt just to reach the UK—and forced to endure harsh conditions once they arrive. No one should be trapped in modern slavery for picking our food. The system must protect workers, not expose them to harm.

No child’s education should be powered by solar panels built on the suffering of Uyghur forced labour. Exploitation has no place in the UK’s green transition. Government must ensure every panel is slavery-free. #uyghurrights #ethicalsupplychains

Today I spoke at Justice and Care Royal Holloway event on care leavers. Turning 18 doesn’t make young people safe. As essential support ends, too many fall into homelessness, poverty, or worse: exploitation. More must be done to protect them. #CareLeavers #EndExploitation

Today’s Spending Review made no mention of modern slavery. Without committed funding, victims stay trapped and traffickers go unpunished. Sustained investment in justice, social care, and law enforcement is essential to tackle these horrific crimes. #EndSlavery #SpendingReview25

Today, I spoke at @HopeforJustice’s event on supporting young care leavers. Too often, these young people are exploited after leaving care, as vital support disappears. We must ensure they receive the protection and stability they deserve. #CareLeavers #ModernSlavery

Out of 138 million children in child labour, around 54 million are in hazardous work. This can jeopardize their health, safety, or development. On World Day Against Child Labour today, check out new @ILO UNICEF report and take action: ow.ly/Uf7y50W7EYM #EndChildLabour

Today, on #WorldDayAgainstChildLabour, we must confront the reality: child labour remains entrenched in global supply chains. Ending it requires urgent action. Voluntary measures have failed. It’s time for mandatory human rights due diligence in the UK. #EndChildLabour #MHRDD

Homelessness isn’t just a housing issue - it’s also a vulnerability to exploitation. In partnership with The Passage Charity, IASC conducted research into modern slavery prevention in the homelessness sector. Join our 1-hour webinar on Monday 23 June to hear the findings.

Baroness Casey’s report exposes deeply disturbing realities and long-recognised systemic failings. IASC will work to ensure the government fully implements the recommendations. Victims must be heard and protected—not criminalised. Prevention and early ID are vital. #CaseyReport

Pleased to attend the Scottish Government’s Trafficking & Exploitation Strategy Action Area 1 meeting today, focused on identifying and supporting victims. Vital discussions with @policescotland and frontline partners to strengthen our collective response. #VictimSupport
