Was lovely to be shown around the #IndianArmy exhibition at #HamptonCourtPalace today by Tej Pal Singh Ralmill Such wonderful stories that should be better known. Thank you for making this happen. Indian soldiers were based at the Palace in 1902, 1911 and 1919, camping in the grounds.

Pleased to see this report The Heritage Alliance . What began as a 6 month exhibition is still ongoing 18 months later! Thanks to all those who've made it a success. Fascinating discussion about the role of commemoration as a tool of diplomacy and influence particularly in a era of shifting political alliances. Director General Commonwealth War Graves Claire Horton CBE emphasised the importance of partnerships and mentioned the #Punjab #WW1 registers

The Punjab #WW1 registers UK Punjab Heritage Association details that Sepoy Mihan Singh from Nariala, Hoshiarpur, was wounded whilst serving with the 4th Prince Albert Victor's Rajput's, an Indian infantry regiment that saw extensive service in Mesopotamia during the #FirstWorldWar. Last night I witnessed a stunning display of poppys at The Tower of London which was a metaphor for the damage the #Tower of London Historic Royal Palaces sustained during the bombing during #WW2. It's important to remember the sacrifices made by all of those who came before us.

#WW2 didn't end on #VEDay - that took another 3 long months. This is the moment Redbridge Councillor Sunny Brar discovered which regiment & rank his GGF served in - at a chance meeting Vaisakhi event in Parliament last month! Jemadar Nand Singh, served in the 1/16th Punjab
