Caroline Dinenage MP - standing for re-election as chair of Culture, Media and Sport Committee - says she wants wants MPs to re-examine concussion in sport after BBC’s ‘Rugby on Trial’ film “raised important issues about the risks in rugby and how those dangers have been explained to players.” ⬇️

Lots of parents in touch asking if they should buy headgear for their kids to protect them from concussion at start of rugby season. One particular company who i’ve clashed with in past charging £129 for their “product”. Do not buy these. They do not protect against concussion.

I’ve come to terms with it, I’m sharing my 2024 season is over. A hip drop tackle 7 weeks ago leaves me awaiting surgery. I urge everyone to learn about these tackles, which are becoming more common. We need to work on prevention to avoid future injuries in all levels of the game
